Connemara
Near Lady Gregory Hotel
Connemara is a cultural region in County Galway, in the west of Ireland facing the Atlantic. The area has a strong association with traditional Irish culture and contains a major part of the Connacht Irish-speaking Gaeltacht which is a key part of the identity of the region.
Its coastline has tiny coves, bays and fishing villages like Roundstone. As you near the coast you will stumble across a stunning coastine of sandy beaches and blue waters. The area is filled with dramatic mountains, rugged hills and woodlands.
The best way to explore Connemara is by car. Take the N59 from Galway City to Clifden town and you’ll drive right through the heart of Connemara countryside.
There is plenty to see and do in Connemara including visiting Kylemore Abbey, Diamond Hill, Benbaun, and visiting Connemara National Park is a must.
Connemara boasts the most spectacular views but one of the best things is that its free for all to enjoy.
