Galway Beaches

Galway has an abundance of beaches to choose from. The closest beaches to Lady Gregory Hotel would be Traught Beach, located in the sheltered Galway Bay just 25 minutes from us and the famous Salthill beach and promenade located approximately 30 minute drive from the hotel. Salthill beach boasts several small beaches running all the way down to the famous Blackrock diving tower at the western end. Only a short walk from Galway city centre there is plenty to discover. Lying back to back, Dogs Bay and Gurteen Bay are two of the most beautiful beaches in County Galway and probably in the West of Ireland. They are situated only 2 miles outside the picturesque village of Roundstone in Connemara, Co. Galway. Dogs Bay and Gurteen Bay make up one of the finest stretches of coastline in Connemara, offering uncompromising views of Errisbeg and the surrounding countryside.

Clare Beaches

The two most popular beaches in Clare would be Lahinch and Kilkee which during peak times are a hive of activity, Lahinch beach is in the vibrant village of Lahinch and is considered one of Irelands finest beaches and very popular for surfing. Kilkee has a mile long sandy beach and offers a number of natural swimming pools known as ‘Pollock Holes’ which are ideal for children and swimmers alike. Near Lady Gregory Hotel there are also many hidden gems which offer a quiet secluded experience. In the heart of the Burren, the seaside village of Fanore is home to one of most popular beaches in Clare. Stretching from New Quay to Finavarra Point, The Flaggy Shore is a beautiful stretch of coastline on the Wild Atlantic Way or go a little off the beaten track and discover Bishop’s Quarter beach, just 2km north of the popular Burren village of Ballyvaughan.
